The Dutch crash course Amsterdam professionals actually swear by

Because Amsterdam is better when you actually speak the language.

You made it to Amsterdam. The canals, the bikes, the energy, it’s everything you hoped for. And yes, everyone speaks English. At work, at the coffee bar, at the hotel rooftop on a Friday evening. You get by just fine.
But fine isn’t the same as belonging. You catch yourself watching from the sidelines when colleagues switch to Dutch at lunch. The joke at the coffee machine lands for everyone except you. The weekend stories flow easily around the table, and you smile along, even though you only caught half of it. You don’t want to be a spectator in your own life here. You want to join in, feel at home, and actually connect with the city and the people around you. That’s exactly why our Dutch crash course in Amsterdam exists. Not to make you fluent overnight, but to give you what matters most first: the confidence to speak, the tools to connect, and the feeling that Amsterdam isn’t just where you live, but where you truly belong.

Everyone speaks English. So why does Dutch still matter?

It’s a fair question. Your meetings are in English. Your colleagues switch languages without blinking. You can order coffee, navigate the office, and survive Amsterdam perfectly well without speaking a word of Dutch. So why bother? Because surviving and belonging are two very different things.

Language isn’t just communication, it’s the invisible thread that connects you to the people and the culture around you. It’s understanding what the cashier mutters under their breath and actually laughing along. It’s chatting with your neighbour without the conversation grinding to an awkward halt. It’s the moment in a meeting when someone makes a Dutch joke and, for the first time, you get it before anyone has to explain it.

At More than Les, we see it happen every day. The moment a student crosses that threshold, their world quietly expands. Suddenly Amsterdam isn’t just a place they live, it’s a place they belong.

In sectors like tech, pharma, and hospitality, where teams are international but culture is local, speaking Dutch is the difference between being a colleague and being part of the family. That gap is smaller than you think and closing it starts with a single Dutch crash course Amsterdam. And honestly? There’s also something deeply satisfying about finally producing those impossible Dutch sounds yourself. Your colleagues will love you for trying.

Our approach: Warm, personal, and effective

Practical Dutch lessons designed for real working life.

Sebas Intensive Dutch Course

Sebas completed the course!

At More than Les, we believe you learn fastest when you feel at ease, so that's exactly the environment we create from minute one. Informal, energetic, and built entirely around real-world application. Because the goal was never to pass a test. The goal is to actually speak Dutch: in a meeting, at a client dinner, over a beer with colleagues on a Friday afternoon. So that's what we practise.

Alexa Intensive Dutch Course

Certification Time with Alexa

We simulate the situations you'll actually find yourself in: leading a meeting, negotiating a contract, making small talk at the coffee machine without that familiar moment of panic. Conversation is at the heart of every lesson, not grammar lists, not conjugation tables, not exercises you'll forget by the time you get home.

Hannah Intensive Dutch Course

Congrats to Hanna!

Our team of certified teachers each brings over 10 years of experience and they know exactly how to get you past that first hurdle. The one where Dutch still feels impossible and slightly ridiculous. We've been there with hundreds of students before you. We know how to make it click. Mistakes are not just allowed here. They're expected, welcomed, and usually pretty funny. The quirks of Dutch are half the fun and laughing at them together is part of how you learn.

The ultimate accelerator: The Dutch intensive course Amsterdam

For when you don't have months, and don't want to wait.

Sound intense? It is—but in a good way. Because it’s one-on-one (or in very small groups if you prefer), there’s no escaping it: you’re going to speak. And by the end of the week, you’ll be amazed at what you can do.

Who is this crash course for?

Our intensive course is designed for go-getters. Maybe you’re a backend developer who’s just been hired by a major scale-up and don’t want to be at a loss for words during the stand-up. Or perhaps you work in a hotel and want to be able to greet guests in their own language. Maybe you’ve just been promoted to a role where interacting with Dutch customers is essential. Whether you work at ASML, a pharmaceutical giant, or a creative agency; if you want quick results, this is the path for you. It doesn’t matter if you’re an absolute beginner or already speak a little “broken Dutch.” Because we offer customized instruction, we tailor the level directly to you. No prior knowledge? No problem. We’ll build it together, brick by brick—but at breakneck speed.

FAQ

The fastest way to learn is through immersion. With our one-week crash course, you’ll make huge strides. What would normally take you months, we pack into a manageable one-week program. Don’t expect to be reciting poetry fluently after five days, but you’ll certainly be able to handle everyday situations and basic conversations at work. The speed depends on your commitment, but our method has proven effective at bringing you up to an A1 or A2 level in record time, or boosting you from A2 to B1.

Our crash course is an intensive 5-day program. You’ll receive 3.5 hours of private lessons each day (17.5 hours total) plus homework support. It’s intensive, yes, but because we keep it fun and interactive, time flies by. It’s the perfect “kickstart” or “boost” for your language skills.

Yes, we understand that sometimes you wish you could have started yesterday. Because we work with a large team of teachers, we can often schedule a start date on very short notice. We’re transparent about costs and offer competitive pricing for the high quality you receive. A one-week private course starts at €1,870. That’s an investment, but one that pays off immediately in career opportunities and quality of life.

Absolutely! In fact, it’s a great way to start. You won’t pick up any bad habits and will immediately build a solid foundation. Our instructors are trained to guide beginners through the basics step by step, yet at a brisk pace. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll be speaking your first sentences.

Definitely. Because we offer customized training, we can tailor the course specifically to your field. Do you work in tech? Then we’ll practice terms you use in your stand-ups. Do you have a lot of meetings? Then we’ll teach you how to introduce yourself, share your opinion, or ask a question in a meeting. After the crash course, you’ll definitely be able to handle basic conversations and understand much more of what’s going on around you.

This is the main reason why many students choose us. Do you have a job interview in two weeks? Or are you starting at a Dutch company next month? Then choose the crash course. It gives you just the confidence you need to start your new challenge with a positive mindset.

The choice is yours. We have a great location, but we’re just as happy to come to your company. That saves you travel time and lets you learn in your own familiar environment. Do you live a bit further away, or does it fit better into your schedule? Then we’ll do the lessons online. Our online lessons are just as interactive and energetic as the in-person ones. We make sure the technology works for us, not against us.

You’ve found us! At MoreThanLes, we combine that personal approach with a proven methodology. No “one size fits all,” but a course built around you. Just read our reviews; students often praise the atmosphere, the teachers’ expertise, and the rapid progress they make.

  • Need quick results for work or personal reasons.
  • Need a little push (the intensity keeps you focused).
  • Want one-on-one attention to tackle your specific stumbling blocks.
  • Are ready to fully immerse yourself in the Dutch language and culture for a week.
